abstract | A chlorine-free multilayer film (10), comprising: a barrier layer (12) made up of amorphous polyamide resin present in a concentration of from about 65 percent to about 100 percent by weight of the barrier layer and a modified resin with maleic anhydride or grafted with glycidyl methacrylate, present in a concentration of from about 0 percent to about 35 percent by weight of the barrier layer, the barrier layer being substantially impervious to odor causing compounds; at least one tie layer (14, 16), the at least one tie layer (14, 16) formed by a resin modified with maleic anhydride or grafted with glycidyl methacrylate, the resin being one or more of a copolymer based on ethylene, a propylene-based copolymer, an ethylene-octene polymer, and a styrene block copolymer; at least one surface layer (22, 24), the at least one surface layer (22, 24) comprising an ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer or ethylene-methyl acrylate copolymer and mixtures thereof and polypropylene-based resins and mixtures thereof; characterized by at least one inner layer (18, 20), the at least one inner layer (18, 20) comprising one of a resin based on an ethylene-propylene copolymer (polypropylene elastomer), an ethylene-based resin -octene and mixtures thereof; the at least one tie layer (14, 16) arranged between the barrier layer (12) and the at least one inner layer (18, 20), the at least one tie layer (14, 16) that facilitates adhesion between the barrier layer (12) and the at least one inner layer (18, 20); and the at least one surface layer (22, 24) arranged next to the at least one inner layer (18, 20). |
