titleOfInvention Dosimetric method
abstract Method for detecting and optionally quantifying exposure to ionizing radiation, which comprises the steps of: (a) providing a dianhydrohexitol or a composition containing dianhydrohexitol, wherein the dianhydrohexitol is one or more of isosorbide, isomanide and isoidide; (b) exposing the dianhydrohexitol or the composition containing dianhydrohexitol to ionizing radiation, thereby effecting a color change in the dianhydrohexitol; (c) detect the color change in dianhydrohexitol or the composition containing dianhydrohexitol; and optionally (d) quantify the dose of ionizing radiation absorbed by dianhydrohexitol or the composition containing dianhydrohexitol based on the color change.
