abstract | A method for determining a risk of head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) in a subject infected with human papillomavirus (HPV), the method comprising: a) providing a sample obtained from a subject's body fluid; b) test a level of solCD44 in the sample; c) test a total protein level in the sample; d) combine the level of solCD44 measured in the sample with the level of total protein measured in the sample and the HPV status of the subject, thus providing a combined score; e) provide a predictive score to have the risk of squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck, in which the predictive score is obtained by a statistical analysis of solCD44 and the total measured protein and HPV status of a population at risk of squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck; and f) determine the risk of squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck in the subject when the combined score exceeds the predictive score. |
