abstract |
Method of producing a 1- (2-t-butylcyclohexyloxy) -2-alkanol which includes a step of adjusting a mixture of raw material containing a 1- (2-t-butylphenyloxy) -2-alkanol represented by the formula ( 1) at a pH of 7.5 to 10.0 and hydrogenate it in the presence of a palladium catalyst (A) and a metal catalyst (B) containing one or more types of elements selected from ruthenium, rhodium, platinum and nickel : ** (See formula) ** in which R1 is a methyl group or an ethyl group, in which the pH of the raw material mixture refers to the pH of an aqueous phase formed by mixing the entire raw material mixture immediately before the start of the reaction with pure water in an amount of 30% by mass in relation to the mixture. |
