titleOfInvention | Processes to recover rubber from aged briquettes and aged briquettes containing plant material from plants that are not hevea |
abstract | A method for recovering rubber from briquettes containing rubber comprising: a. use aged briquettes that comprise at least one antioxidant and chopped vegetable matter that contains bagasse, rubber, resin, and less than 5% by weight of leaves of a non-Hevea plant, where the briquettes have aged for approximately 21-200 days after training; b. mixing the briquettes with (i) at least one non-polar organic solvent and (ii) at least one polar organic solvent to produce a suspension where the total amount of (i) and (ii) is 50-90% by weight of the suspension , the briquettes comprise 10-50% by weight of the suspension, and the suspension contains 0.5-10% by weight of water; C. removing a majority of the bagasse from the suspension to produce a micelle and a first part of bagasse; d. optionally, adding more amount of polar organic solvent, non-polar solvent or a combination thereof to the micelle to form a micelle of reduced viscosity, wherein any polar organic solvent and additional non-polar organic solvent that is added is equal to or different from those used in (a) and the amount of any additional polar organic solvent added is less than the amount produced by the coagulation of the rubber present in the micelle of reduced viscosity; and. removing 80-95% by weight of bagasse (with respect to the total weight of bagasse present in the reduced viscosity micelle) from the micelle produced in (c) or (d) thus forming a purified micelle and a second fraction of bagasse, wherein a majority of the bagasse that is removed has a particle size of less than 105 micrometers; F. optionally treating the purified micelle to remove additional bagasse thereby producing a clarified rubber solution containing 0.01-1% by weight of bagasse (with respect to the total weight of bagasse present in the suspension) thereby producing a solution of clarified rubber; g. increase the relative amount of polar solvent compared to the non-polar solvent in the purified micelle or in the clarified rubber solution such that the rubber coagulates; and h. produce purified solid rubber from coagulated rubber where, when said purified solid rubber contains 0.8% volatile matter, it also contains 0.05-0.5% by weight of powder, 0.2-1.5% by weight of ash and 0.1-4% by weight of resin, wherein at least (b) - (f) are carried out at a temperature or temperatures of 10-80 ° C and a pressure of 35 to 1000 kPa. |
