abstract | A sealant composition comprising a polythioether, wherein the sealant composition: (a) is substantially free of volatile organic compounds; (b) it is sprayable, that is, the composition can be applied on a continuous film that adheres to a substrate in a single pass using a spray gun such that the film provides a layer having a thickness of 506 μm to 3,048 μm (20 to 120 mils); and (c) is resistant to fuel, that is, the composition, when applied to a substrate and cured, provides a cured sealant that has a volumetric expansion percentage not exceeding 40% after immersion for a week at 60 ° C (140 ºF) and at ambient pressure in reference jet fluid (JRF) of type 1 according to methods similar to those described in ASTM D792 or AMS 3269 and in which the polythioether comprises - a polycyanate-polyurethane with isocyanate functionality and / or an isocyanate functional polyurethane which are the reaction product of a thiol functional polythioether and an isocyanate functional compound and - an amine / hydroxy functional polythioether. |
