abstract |
Method for producing a sulfate or phosphate based fertilizer from a waste stream or by-product comprising hydrogen sulphide, said method comprising: a) creating a feed charge stream comprising hydrogen sulphide in a higher proportion 50% by volume and carbon dioxide in an amount not exceeding 50% from a waste stream or by-product; b) feed the charging current and air to an oven; c) burn the acid gas stream to produce a stream comprising sulfur dioxide; d) feeding the sulfur dioxide stream to a reactor to produce a stream comprising sulfuric acid and a waste gas stream that includes carbon dioxide; and e) reacting the sulfuric acid with a source of potassium or phosphate to convert the sulfuric acid into a phosphate or sulfate based fertilizer. |
