A fan (1100) comprising: a blower (750, 100) comprising: a housing (112) defining a drive cavity (119); a drive plate (162) disposed within the drive cavity and comprising an outer edge (164); and one or more vanes (170, 171) disposed on the drive plate and comprising an attack surface (180) and a leakage surface (182) that are connected at a tip (174); and a flow control device (500) characterized in that it comprises: a fixed magnetic field (525); a drive coil (520, 615) configured to move within the fixed magnetic field in response to a low frequency signal and configured to receive a high frequency signal; a detection coil (540) adjacent to the drive coil and configured to detect the high frequency signal corresponding to a position of the drive coil; and a processor (545) coupled to the high frequency source (505) and the low frequency source (510) and configured (i) to receive and detect a high frequency signal from the detection coil and (ii) to adjust the low frequency signal to move the drive coil, where the blower is in fluid communication with the flow control device. |
