abstract |
A liquid composition comprising decellularized extracellular matrix derived from cardiac tissue, wherein the composition is suitable for administration through a needle catheter without obstructing the catheter, wherein the decellularized extracellular matrix can be obtained by a method comprising: (a ) processing a sample of cardiac tissue that has an extracellular matrix component and a non-extracellular matrix component to separate the non-extracellular matrix component to obtain decellularized extracellular matrix; (b) lyophilize and pulverize the decellularized extracellular matrix in a powder; (c) produce a composition comprising the extracellular matrix powder decellularized in a liquid; (d) digest the decellularized extracellular matrix in the composition of step (c) with a matrix degrading enzyme at pH 1-6; and (e) neutralizing the pH of the digested decellularized extracellular matrix of step (d) to produce the liquid composition; where the liquid composition becomes a gel at body temperature. |
