abstract A process for the preparation of an optically active chiral 3-aminopyrrolidine (3-AP) or an optically active chiral N-1-boc-3- (B3-AP) comprising: a) providing 3-oxopyrrolidine (3-OP ) or N-1-boc-3-oxopyrrolidine (B3OP) as an amino acceptor and an amino donor, b) reacting the amino acceptor and the amino donor with a transaminase (R) - or (S) -selective , c) obtaining the desired optically active chiral 3-AP or the optically active chiral B3AP and an alfacetonic byproduct and d) separating the ketone byproduct obtained in step c) from the reaction mixture by reaction with at least one enzyme.
