abstract | A solid dosage form comprising: a matrix core comprising between about 10% and about 50% of a non-swellable hydrophobic material comprising at least one polymer and a water-soluble pharmaceutical agent; and a modified release coating surrounding the matrix core, wherein the modified release coating comprises a hydrophobic polymer and a hydrophilic pore forming agent; a water-soluble barrier between the modified release coating and the matrix core such that the barrier coating surrounds the matrix core and the modified release coating surrounds the barrier coating; where the solid dosage form is capable of releasing the pharmaceutical agent at a zero order release rate for a period of at least four hours after administration to a subject. |
