Method for the production of a water-soluble immunostimulatory composition containing a saccharide fraction, comprising the steps of: i) providing yeast cellular material, ii) subjecting said yeast cellular material to hydrolysis with an alkali at a pH of 9 to 14 and at a temperature of 10 ° C to 100 ° C for 10 minutes to 18 hours and an acid at a pH of 1.5 to 4 and at a temperature of 30 ° C to 100 ° C for 1 to 48 hours to release mannans and glucans from Yeast cellular material, and optionally neutralize the material, iii) separate the water soluble and insoluble fractions from the material obtained in stage ii), and, optionally, iv) subject the water soluble fraction of stage iii) to a stage additional fractionation, in which the water soluble fraction comprises mannans and beta-1,6 glucans, and in which the water soluble fraction is substantially odorless and tasteless. |
