titleOfInvention | Nerve electrode |
abstract | An electrode assembly, comprising: a portion of nerve engagement, which includes: a pair of generally arched nails (172, 174), each nail including a proximal end, a distal end, and an inner edge (202, 212) extending between the proximal end and the distal end; and a base joint portion (177) from which the respective nails extend, and configured to cause movement of the nails between a closed position, in which the inner edges (202, 212) of the respective nails are engaged each other in a sliding and detachable way, in a side-to-side relationship to define a light, and an open position in which the distal ends of the nails are separated from each other to provide access to the light, where the portion (177 ) The base joint supports an exposed electrode contact (180) on a surface of the light, where each nail is configured with a sufficient radial length to cause the distal end of each nail to make detachable contact with a part of the portion (177) of base joint, when the nails are in the closed position; an actuator mechanism that includes a pair of grip members, both extending outwardly from the base articulation portion (177) and being separated from each other, such that a releasable pressure action of the grip members with each other causes the movement of the nails, from the closed position to the open position; and an electrical conductor that extends through one of the respective grip members, to be in electrical communication with the electrode contact (180) wherein the electrode contact (180) is a generally circular shaped member of a electrically conductive material, and is in general alignment with a longitudinal axis of the conductor (182). |
