titleOfInvention Image signal processing circuit, image reading device and image formation apparatus
abstract An image signal processing circuit (10) for use in an image reading device (60) having a scanner controller (63) that generates a gate drive signal (SHGT), the processing circuit comprising image signal: an input means (11, 12) for inputting and fixing an image signal, obtained by optically reading an image information that is contained in an original (P) under the control of the scanner controller (63) ; sampling means (13) arranged to sample and hold a specified interval of the image signal to output a sampled image signal; analog to digital conversion means (15) arranged to convert the sampled image signal, before or after amplification, from analog to digital form; amplifying means (14) arranged to amplify the sampled image signal, or image data converted from the sampled image signal, to digital form, with a gain to output amplified image data; automatic gain control means (17) arranged to control the gain of the amplifying means by detecting a signal level of the sampled image signal amplified and converted from analog to digital, to determine whether the detected signal level is equal to a target level of white color, which is stored in a memory (173) in the automatic gain control means, to generate a determination result, to obtain an adjusted value of the gain of the amplification means on the On the basis of the determination result, to set the gain of the amplifying means 14 to the adjusted value such that the signal level of the sampled signal amplified and converted from analog to digital is closer to the target level, and to then stop detecting the signal level of the specified range of the image signal; and interfacing and timing generation means (18) connectable to the scanner controller for supplying timing and control signals (SCLK, SD, CS, SHGT) from the scanner controller (63) to the means input means, the sampling means, the analog-to-digital conversion means and the automatic gain control means, the timing generation and interconnection means being sensitive to the gate control signal (SHGT) to generate signals (XLSYNC) that are supplied to the automatic gain control means (17), and the automatic gain control means being arranged to start detecting the signal level in response to: either the control signal gating (SHGT) input to the automatic gain control means from the timing generation and interconnection means in synchronization with the line synchronization signal (XLSYNC); or a register control signal (REG_Ctrl) input to the automatic gain control means from the interconnection and timing generation means in synchronization with the line synchronization signal.
