abstract |
A medical device comprising: a. a balloon catheter that has a balloon; b. a hydrophilic coating comprising a therapeutic agent disposed around said balloon; c. a envelope disposed around said coating, wherein said envelope has a variably permeable microstructure consisting of nodes interconnected by fibrils that initially limits the unwanted transfer of therapeutic agent to said envelope when said envelope has a substantially closed microstructure when the envelope is not under tension; d. wherein said coating and therapeutic agent are disposed substantially between the surface of the balloon and the envelope and e. wherein when said balloon and envelope expand, said envelope has an open microstructure and allows the transfer of said therapeutic agent to an external area to said envelope. |
