titleOfInvention Wet scrubber to remove sulfur dioxide from a process gas
abstract Method for cleaning a process gas containing sulfur dioxide by means of a wet scrubber (8), said method comprising putting the process gas in contact with an absorption liquid in an absorption vessel (40) to absorb sulfur dioxide from the process gas, then mix the absorption liquid with an oxygen-containing gas, which contains at least 3% by volume of oxygen, O2, then mix the absorption liquid with a gas containing carbon dioxide and add an absorbent material to at least a part of the absorption liquid, then return at least a part of the absorption liquid to the absorption vessel (40) to absorb more sulfur dioxide from the process gas, in which the mixture of at least a part of the liquid of absorption with the gas containing carbon dioxide is carried out at the same time as the addition of an absorbent material to at least a part of the absorption liquid, in which the absorbent material is limestone or dolomite, and in which the gas containing carbon dioxide comprises at least 20% by volume of carbon dioxide, in which the step of mixing the absorption liquid with an oxygen-containing gas, containing at least 3% by volume of oxygen, O2, is carried out in an oxidation tank (52) from which the absorption liquid is transferred to an absorbent solution tank (54) in which the step of mixing the absorption liquid with a gas containing carbon dioxide comprising at least 20% by volume of carbon dioxide, in which a first part of the absorbent material is added to the absorbent solution tank (54), and wherein a second part of the absorbent material is added to the absorption liquid after the absorption liquid has left the absorbent dissolution tank (54), in which the amount of absorbent material supplied to the storage tank Absorbent pollution (54) is controlled by measuring the pH of the absorption liquid in the dissolution tank (54) by a first pH sensor (122) and using the measured pH to control a valve (124) by comparing the measured pH and a pH set point of the absorption liquid tank (54) of pH 5 to 6, in which the valve (124) opens to increase the flow of absorbent liquid in the dissolution tank (54) in order to increase the pH when the pH measured by the sensor (112) is lower than the pH set point of the absorption liquid tank (54).
