abstract Streptomyces carnosus bacterial strain producing loboforins and loboforin produced by it. # The invention provides a new bacterial strain of Streptomyces carnosus that has been isolated from its natural environment and deposited in the Spanish Type Culture Collection under accession number 9162, which is capable of efficiently producing by fermentation antibiotic compounds of the loboforin family. Specifically, this strain is a producer of a new loboforin, designated in the present invention as loboforin K, which exhibits cytotoxic activity against tumor cells, preferably human, and antibiotic or antibacterial activity against Gram-positive pathogenic bacteria, preferably human.
