abstract | A xanthene dye having the formula: in which R1, R2, R4, R5, R6, R7, R8, R9, R10 and R11 are independently selected from substituted or unsubstituted alkyl, substituted or unsubstituted heteroalkyl, substituted aryl or unsubstituted, substituted or unsubstituted heteroaryl, substituted or unsubstituted heterocycloalkyl, halogen, H, NO2, CN, NR15R16 and Z2R16; R3 is NR15R16; where Z2 is O or S; each R15 is a member independently selected from H, substituted or unsubstituted alkyl, and substituted or unsubstituted heteroalkyl each R16 is a member independently selected from H, substituted or unsubstituted alkyl, substituted or unsubstituted heteroalkyl, C (Z3) R17, and R15 and R16, together with the nitrogen to which they are attached, can also be a reactive group containing nitrogen, wherein said reactive group is a member selected from -NHNH2, -N> = C> = S and -N> = C> = O; wherein Z3 is a selected member of O, S and NH; R17 is a member selected from substituted or unsubstituted alkyl, substituted or unsubstituted heteroalkyl, OR18 and NR19R20; wherein R18 is a member selected from H, substituted or unsubstituted alkyl, substituted or unsubstituted heteroalkyl, unsubstituted substituted aryl, substituted or unsubstituted heteroaryl and C (O) R21; wherein R21 is substituted or unsubstituted alkyl or substituted or unsubstituted heteroalkyl; R19 and R20 are independently selected members of H, substituted or unsubstituted alkyl and substituted or unsubstituted heteroalkyl; Y is C (O) or S (O) 2; and X is (NR22R23) or (O) wherein R22 and R23 are independently selected members of H, substituted or unsubstituted alkyl and substituted or unsubstituted heteroalkyl; and R12 and R13 together with the nitrogen to which they are attached, join to form a ring, wherein said R12 or R13 comprise an reactive group containing oxygen or a structural unit produced by the reaction of the reactive group containing oxygen with a group complementary reactivity reagent on a carrier molecule. |
