abstract | An apparatus for cutting retainers in a continuous thread, particularly a suture material, comprising: a rotating head type part configured to be rotatably controlled around a longitudinal axis, where the rotating head type part includes a central hole that substantially coincides with the longitudinal axis and is configured to receive the strand; and a retainer-forming part that rests on the rotating head type part and which comprises a cutting edge directed substantially inwards towards the longitudinal axis, where when the rotating head type part rotates around the longitudinal axis, the thread is pulled continuously through the central hole along the longitudinal axis, the cutting edge cuts, intermittently or continuously, retainers around the outer surface of the strand. |
