abstract | A process for the removal of mercury from a process gas comprising the following steps: (i) reacting mercury vapor present in the process gas with mercuric chloride dissolved in a scrubbing solution, to form a suspension containing chloride mercurous, (ii) sedimenting the mercurous chloride out of the suspension, characterized in that the chlorine is injected into the suspension before the sedimentation step to form a reaction solution, and in that the sedimentation of the mercurous chloride takes place in two steps , in which in the second stage it is mixed with zinc powder. |
