A method for removing an impurity of chlorinated tertiary hydrocarbon of 1,3-dichloro-1-propene, comprising: providing a first mixture comprising 1,3-dichloro-1-propene and an impurity of tertiary halogenated hydrocarbon: contacting the first mixture containing the impurity of tertiary halogenated hydrocarbon with a dehydrochlorination catalyst effective to catalyze a conversion of the impurity of tertiary halogenated hydrocarbon to the corresponding unchlorinated or less chlorinated unsaturated hydrocarbon and hydrogen chloride; and distilling the 1,3-dichloro-1-propene to separate and recover a purified cis-1,3-dichloro-1-propene fraction and a purified trans-1,3-dichloro-1-propene fraction. |
