An apparatus for monitoring EMG signals of the muscles of a patient's larynx, comprising: an endotracheal tube (100) having an outer surface, and a first location configured for positioning in the patient's vocal folds; a first electrode (112) formed on the outer surface of the endotracheal tube, substantially below the first location; and a second electrode (112) formed on the outer surface of the endotracheal tube, substantially above the first location, in which the first and second electrodes are displaced laterally and longitudinally from each other, and configured to receive EMG signals from the muscles of the larynx when the endotracheal tube is located in the patient's trachea. |
