titleOfInvention | SYNERGISTIC PHARMACEUTICAL COMPOSITION OF TWO ANALGESICS WITH DIFFERENT PHARMACOCINETIC PROFILE |
abstract | The present invention relates to pharmaceutical compositions containing two active ingredients, one of them being a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory analgesic known as meloxicam or one of its pharmaceutically acceptable salts and the other a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory analgesic known as lysine clonixinate. When both drugs are combined in specific proportions, the combination produces pharmacological effects of analgesia that indicate a super-additivity (synergy) as well as a potentiation of the anti-inflammatory effect, so it is possible to use less of both drugs to achieve the same therapeutic effects than when used alone. By decreasing the amount of each drug in the combination, the side effects associated with each of them are reduced in number and in degree, therefore this therapeutic strategy can be a promising tool in the relief of moderate to severe acute pain with the advantage of having fewer adverse effects. |
