titleOfInvention Fluid moved medical injectors
abstract An imaging assembly (10), including: a magnetic resonance imaging system including an imaging tunnel; a fluid-powered injector including a fluid delivery device, a flexible fluid conduit (132), and a non-ferrous, non-magnetic fluid actuation device (110), wherein the fluid actuation device (110) is configured to not interfere with magnetic resonance imaging; at least one bomb; a plurality of fluid conduits (138, 140, 142, 144) coupled to the at least one pump (150); an operating fluid (152), wherein the at least one pump provides the operating fluid to the fluid actuation device through the plurality of fluid conduits; and a shielded wall, where the at least one pump and fluid-driven injector are disposed on opposite sides of the wall; characterized in that: the fluid driven injector is disposed within the imaging hole; the fluid actuation device (110) is responsive to the pressure of the operating fluid to impart a sequence of discrete, discrete forces to actuate the delivery device to flow medical fluid from the injector, where the fluid actuation device (110 ) is configured to sequentially compress the flexible fluid conduit (132), wherein the fluid actuation device (110) includes: a cylinder block (112) including a plurality of cylinders (114, 116, 118, 120), being each cylinder coupled to a respective one of the plurality of fluid conduits (138, 140, 142, 144); a plurality of pistons (124, 126, 128, 130) arranged in series along the flexible fluid conduit, each piston being arranged within a respective one of the plurality of cylinders; a separate valve for each cylinder (114, 116, 118, 120), where each of the valves is located between its respective cylinder and the at least one pump; and a control (156) coupled to the at least one pump (150), the control (156) and the fluid actuation device (110) being disposed on opposite sides of the wall (48), where the at least one pump (150) introduces and administers the operating fluid in response to at least one control signal (154) from control (156), where in response to the at least one control signal the at least one fluid pump and valves cooperate to deliver the operating fluid in sequential pulses, one after the other, to the cylinders, thereby causing the pistons to move sequentially and sequentially compress the flexible fluid conduit (132), to, in turn, impart the sequence of forces at different times and axial positions along the flexible fluid conduit (132).
