| abstract | An apparatus (100) for supplying gas to a patient, comprising: a gas supply device configured to provide gas at a predetermined pressure level; a heater (106), operative to heat the contents of an installable water chamber in proximity to said heater, the chamber having an input and an output, said input being configured to receive gas from said device, a controller or processor configured to communicate energy to said heater according to at least one user selectable level, characterized by: a separable lid (102) to cover said heater, where, in use, when said lid is removed and said water chamber is installed in proximity to said heater (106), said apparatus supplies humidified gas to a patient at a predetermined pressure level via the outlet (104) of the water chamber; and when said cap (102) is installed covering said heater, said apparatus supplies non-humidified gas to a patient at a predetermined pressure level. |
