abstract A soluble fusion protein complex comprising at least two soluble fusion proteins, wherein the first fusion protein comprises (a) a first biologically active polypeptide covalently connected to (b) interleukin-15 polypeptide (IL-15) or a functional fragment thereof; and the second fusion protein comprises (c) a second biologically active peptide covalently connected to (d) soluble interleukin-15α (IL-15Rα) receptor polypeptide or a functional fragment thereof in which one or both of the proteins first and second fusion further comprise an immunoglobulin Fc domain or a functional fragment thereof; wherein the IL-15 domain of the first fusion protein binds to the soluble IL-15Rα domain of the second fusion protein to form a complex of soluble fusion proteins, and where the IL-15 polypeptide is a IL-15 variant that has a substitution of N for D at position 72 of the mature human IL-15 sequence and wherein the IL-15Rα polypeptide comprises the sushi domain of IL-15Rα.
