A papermaking process, comprising providing an aqueous suspension containing cellulosic fibers, introducing into the suspension a filler material comprising a calcium salt and a cellulose derivative having a degree of substitution of carboxyalkyl groups of from 0, 05 to 0.65, and dehydrate the suspension to form a continuous web or sheet of paper, wherein the calcium salt and cellulose derivative are added separately to the cellulosic suspension and the filler material is formed in situ in the cellulosic suspension. |
