abstract | A system for determining an evaluated carbohydrate ratio with respect to insulin (new CIR) of a patient, comprising: a memory component adapted to store an initial set of values comprising at least one normoglycemic glucose level (BG0), a target glucose level (TBG), an insulin sensitivity (IS), and an estimated ratio of carbohydrates to insulin (CIRant); a bolus selection component adapted to select a test bolus corresponding to the initial set of stored values and a planned meal; a user interface component adapted to select a meal with a known carbohydrate loading content (Carbs); a glucose detection component adapted to periodically determine a post-prandial glucose (CBG) level of the patient after administration of the test bolus and consumption of the planned meal; and an evaluation component of the CIR adapted to determine the evaluated ratio of carbohydrates to insulin (new CIR) of the patient based on the initial set of values and the post-prandial glucose level (CBG) value, in the that the determination of the post-prandial glucose level (CBG) is repeated until: either a substantially constant glucose level (BG1) is reached, in which case the evaluated ratio of carbohydrates to insulin (CIRnueva) is Calculates as: ** Formula ** when the difference (ΔBG) between BG1 and BG0 is greater than a predetermined value (Y) and ** Formula ** when the difference (ΔBG) between BG1 and BG0 is less than the predefined value (Y ); or a normal post-prandial glucose level is reached, in which case the evaluated ratio of carbohydrates with respect to insulin (New CIR) is calculated as: ** Formula ** where n> = number of periods used to determine the ratio evaluated carbohydrates with respect to insulin (CIRnew) i> = a counter that designates each period CBi> = a necessary correction bolus when the CBG is higher than the TBG CGi> = a necessary glucose correction when the CBG is lower to the TBG. |
