A method for increasing the mechanical tensile strength of a polymer film comprising the operations of: a. provide a polymer film that has undergone flat expansion, b. creating a load distribution element in said polymer film, c. applying a tensile load to the polymer film at or near the load distribution element, in which the maximum tensile load is increased relative to a substantially equivalent system without the load distribution element, and in which the element of Load distribution deforms under an applied tensile load and produces an increase in load failures compared to a polymer film that has no load distribution elements. |
