The present invention comprises a method for synthesizing metal complexes from polyazapyridinophane macrocyclic compounds, characterized by being mimetics of the enzyme superoxide dismutase (SOD). Furthermore, the present invention refers to the polyazapyridinophane macrocyclic metal compounds themselves, to the metal complexes formed from them and to the use of these in therapy for the treatment of diseases whose etiology is based on abnormalities of endogenous SOD activity, mainly as anti-inflammatories, analgesics and antioxidants that protect against cellular oxidative stress. |
