abstract | The double recognition immunoassay for the detection of antibodies specific to a target antigen in a sample comprises contacting said target antigen with a sample suspected of containing said antibodies specific to said target antigen under conditions that allow the formation of an antigen-antibody complex; adding a conjugate comprising said target antigen and a label under conditions that allow the formation of an antigen-antibody-antigen / label complex; and detect said antigen-antibody-antigen / marker complex. The immunoassay can be used, among other applications, in the diagnosis of infections caused by pathogenic organisms with high sensitivity and specificity. |
