titleOfInvention | Device and method for analyte detection |
abstract | A method of detecting at least one substance of interest in a liquid sample, said method comprising: arranging a liquid sample that comprises, or is suspected of comprising the substance or substances of interest; applying the liquid sample to a porous material in an amount sufficient to at least partially moisten the porous material, putting the porous material and the porous membrane in physical contact over a contact area, the porous membrane comprising at least one torque element of specific binding that can be attached, either directly or indirectly, to the substance or substances of interest, where one or more of the specific bonding element or elements is an antibody, keeping the porous material moistened and the porous membrane in contact for a sufficient amount of time for the porous membrane to be wetted, at least, in the area comprising the specific bonding element or elements and for the liquid present in the porous material to diffuse upwardly in the porous membrane which comprises the specific connecting element or elements, where the porous material is in physical contact with a lower side of the porous membrane, the specific bonding element or elements being located on the porous material to which the liquid sample has been applied, the porous membrane being in direct contact with the porous material in a position where the element or elements are located of specific binding torque, the liquid sample being applied to an area of the porous material different from the contact zone, in which diffusion of the liquid to the porous membrane results in the substance or substances of interest, if present, being bind, either directly or indirectly, to the specific joint pair element or elements; and detecting the presence or absence of a complex comprising the specific bonding element or elements and the substance or substances of interest, in which the presence of at least one complex indicates the presence of at least one of the substances of interest in the liquid sample. |
