titleOfInvention Doubly indented photochromic naphthopyranos
abstract Doubly indeno-annulated photochromic naphthopyrans, of general formula (I): **Formula** where the residues R1, R2, R3, R4, R5, R6, R7 and R8 represent, independently of each other, a substituent, chosen within the α group, consisting of a hydrogen atom, a (C1-C6)-alkyl radical, a (C1-C6)-thioalkyl radical, a (C3-C7)-cycloalkyl radical, which may have one or more heteroatoms, a (C1-C6)-alkoxy radical C1-C6), a hydroxy group, a trifluoromethyl, bromine, chlorine, fluorine group, an unsubstituted, monosubstituted or disubstituted phenyl, phenoxy, benzyl, benzyloxy, naphthyl or naphthyl group, where the substituents may in turn be chosen within the α group, preferably (C1-C6)-alkyl, (C1-C6)-alkoxy, bromine, chlorine or fluorine; m and n represent, independently of one another, an integer from 1 to 4, or the radicals R1 and R2, together with the carbon atom bonded to these radicals, form a 5- to 7-membered carbo- or heterocyclic ring, optionally bearing one or various substituents of the α group, although one to three aromatic or heteroaromatic ring systems can also be attached to this ring, with the particularity that the ring system or systems are chosen, independently of each other, within the β group, consisting of benzol, naphthalene , phenanthrene, pyridine, quinoline, furan, triophene, pyrrole, benzofuran, benzothiophene, indole and carbazole, which in turn can be substituted by one or more substituents, chosen within the α group, and where, when two of these substituents are carried in the carbo- or heterocyclic ring with 5 to 7 members is lodged in the same ring carbon atom, these can in turn form a carbo- or heterocyclic ring with 5 to 7 members, or the residues R5 and R6 together with the atom or carbon bonded to these residues form a carbo- or heterocyclic ring with 5 to 7 members, possibly bearing one or more substituents of the α group, with the particularity that one to three aromatic ring systems can also be attached to this ring or heteroaromatic, choosing the ring system(s), independently from each other, within the β group, consisting of benzol, naphthalene, phenanthrene, pyridine, quinoline, furan, triophene, pyrrole, benzofuran, benzothiophene, indole and carbazole, which can be substituted for in turn by one or more substituents, chosen from the α group and when two of these substituents carried by the carbo or heterocyclic ring with 5 to 7 members are housed in the same ring carbon atom, they can in turn form a carbon ring. or heterocyclic from 5 to 7 members, or two contiguous residues R3 form an annulated benzol ring that can be unsubstituted, monosubstituted or bisubstituted, where in turn the substituents can be chosen go within the α group; or two contiguous residues R7 form a ringed benzol ring, which can be unsubstituted, monosubstituted or bisubstituted, the substituents being able to be chosen within the α group; and B and B' are independently selected from one of the following groups a) or b), where a) are mono-, di- and trisubstituted aryl radicals, where the aryl radical is phenyl, naphthyl or phenanthryl; b) unsubstituted, mono- and disubstituted heteroaryl radicals, the heteroaryl radical being able to be pyridyl, furanyl, benzofuranyl, thienyl, benzothielino, 1, 2, 3, 4-tetrahydrocarbazolyl or julolidinyl, where the substituents of the aryl or heteroaryl radicals in a) and b) are chosen from the following defined group α or group χ, consisting of amino, mono-(C1-C6)-alkylamino, Di-(C1-C6)-alkylamino, on the phenyl ring, mono and unsubstituted phenylamino , monosubstituted or substituted, piperidinyl, and N-substituted piperazinyl, pyrrolidinyl, imidazolidinyl, pyrazolidinyl, indolinyl, morpholinyl, 2,6-dimethylmorpholinyl, thiomorpholinyl, azacycloheptyl, azacyclooctyl, unsubstituted, monosubstituted or disubstituted phenoldiacillin, unsubstituted, monosubstituted or disubstituted phenoxacillin Unsubstituted, mono- or disubstituted, 2, 3, 4-tetrahydroquinolinyl, Unsubstituted, mono- or disubstituted 2, 3-dihydro-1, 4-benzoxacinyl, Unsubstituted, mono- or disubstituted 1, 2, 3, 4-tetrahydroisoquinolinyl disubstituted, unsubstituted, mono- or disubstituted phenacillin, unsubstituted, mono- or disubstituted carbazoyl, unsubstituted, mono- or disubstituted 1, 2, 3, 4-tetrahydrocarbazolyl and unsubstituted 10, 11-dihydrodibenzo [b, f] mono- or unsubstituted azepinyl disubstituted, where the substituent(s) may again be chosen, independently of one another, from the group consisting of -(C1-C6)-alkyl, -(C1-C6)-alkoxy, bromine, chlorine or fluorine; or where two directly adjacent substituents of the aryl or heteroaryl residues in a) and b) present a group V-(CR8R9)pW, where p >= 1, 2 or 3, the residues R8 and R9 represent in turn, independently of each other yes, a substituent chosen from the group α, where V and W independently of each other can be -O-, -S-, -N(C1C6)alkyl, -NC6H5, -CH2-, -C(CH3)2- or - C(C6H5)2- where one or several contiguous CR8R9 units of this group V-(CR8R9)pW can be part of a ringed benzol ring that can in turn present one or several substituents, chosen within the α group, or V and/or W together with the adjoining unit CR8R9 an annulated benzol ring which may be unsubstituted, monosubstituted or disubstituted, its substituents being able to be chosen within the group α.
