abstract Method of manufacturing a surgical guide for placement in a patient's mouth, which comprises: developing a virtual model of the patient's mouth using scan data from the patient's mouth, developing, with the use of the virtual model, a plan surgical that includes the location of multiple dental implants to be placed in the patient's mouth, including the surgical plan, a surgical instrumentation protocol to be used in order to install the multiple dental implants; develop a virtual surgical guide based on the surgical plan by using open mouth scan data from an open mouth condition of the patient's mouth; determine an available dimension from the virtual surgical guide for dental structures that are in opposition to each of the multiple dental implants; in response to the available dimensions being smaller than a dimension corresponding to the instrumentation to be used with each of the multiple dental implants, modifying the surgical plan; after the modification stage, obtain final manufacturing information of the surgical guide based on the virtual model; and manufacture the surgical guide based on the final manufacturing information of the surgical model.
