abstract | A stabilized composition comprising (a) a body care product or a household product and (b) from 5 to 1000 ppm based on the total weight formulation of one or more compounds of formula ** Formula ** in which E is alkoxy of 1 to 18 carbon atoms, cycloalkoxy of 5 to 12 carbon atoms or aralkoxy of 7 to 15 carbon atoms, or E is -OT- (OH) b, T is a straight chain alkylene or branched from 1 to 18 carbon atoms, cycloalkylene of 5 to 18 carbon atoms, cycloalkenylene of 5 to 18 carbon atoms, a straight or branched chain alkylene of 1 to 4 carbon atoms substituted with phenyl or with phenyl substituted with one or two alkyl groups of 1 to 4 carbon atoms; b is 1, 2 or 3 provided that b cannot exceed the number of carbon atoms in T, and when b is 2 or 3, each hydroxyl group is attached to a carbon atom other than T; R is hydrogen or methyl; n is 1 or 2; when n is 1, R1 is hydrogen, alkyl of 1 to 18 carbon atoms, alkenyl of 2-18 carbon atoms, propargyl, glycidyl, alkyl of 2 to 50 carbon atoms interrupted by one to twenty oxygen atoms, said alkyl substituted with one to ten hydroxyl groups or both interrupted by said oxygen atoms and substituted with said hydroxyl groups, or R1 is alkyl of 1 to 4 carbon atoms substituted with a carboxy group or with -COOZ, wherein Z is hydrogen, alkyl of 1 to 4 carbon atoms or phenyl, or wherein Z is said alkyl substituted with - (COO-) p Mp +, p is 1-3 and M is a metal ion of the first, second or third group of the table periodic or is Zn, Cu, Ni or Co, or M is a group (N + (R2) 4) p in which R2 is alkyl of 1 to 8 carbon atoms or benzyl, when n is 2, R1 is alkylene of 1 at 12 carbon atoms, alkenylene of 4 to 12 carbon atoms, xylylene or alkylene of 1 to 50 carbon atoms interrupted by one to twenty oxygen atoms eno, substituted with one to ten hydroxyl groups or both interrupted by said oxygen atoms and substituted with said hydroxyl groups; BM is a basic material selected from the group consisting of alkali metal hydroxides with the exception of sodium hydroxide, alkaline earth metal hydroxides, and amines or 1,4-diazabicyclo [2.2.2] octane; the amines are R115-N (R116) -R117, wherein R115, R116, and R117 are independently hydrogen, a straight or branched chain alkyl of 1 to 24 carbon atoms, a straight or branched chain alkenyl of 2 to 18 carbon atoms, cycloalkyl of 5 to 12 carbon atoms, phenylalkyl of 7 to 15 carbon atoms, phenyl, or said phenyl or said phenylalkyl substituted on the phenyl ring with 1 to 3 alkyls of 1 to 4 carbon atoms; or said alkyl substituted with one or more groups -OH, -OCO-R118, -OR119, or -NH2 or mixtures thereof; or said alkyl or said alkenyl interrupted by one or more groups -O-, -NH- or-NR119- or mixtures thereof and which may be unsubstituted or substituted with one or more groups -OH, -OR119 or -NH2 or mixtures thereof ; R118 is hydrogen, C1-C18 straight or branched chain alkyl, C5-C12 cycloalkyl, C3-C8 straight or branched chain alkenyl, C6-C14 aryl or C7-C15 aralkyl, R119 is straight or branched chain alkyl of 1 to 18 carbon atoms; the hydroxide of an alkali metal is potassium hydroxide, or rubidium hydroxide; the hydroxide of an alkaline earth metal is magnesium hydroxide, calcium hydroxide, strontium hydroxide, or barium hydroxide; HY is an organic or inorganic acid; in which the total charge of cations is equal to the total charge of anions; and Y is phosphate, phosphonate, carbonate, bicarbonate, nitrate, chloride, bromide, bisulfite, sulphite, bisulfate, sulfate, borate, format, acetate, benzoate, citrate, oxalate, tartrate, acrylate, polyacrylate, fumarate, maleate, itaconate, glycolate , gluconate, malate, mandelate, tiglate, ascorbate, polymethacrylate, a carboxylate of nitrilotriacetic acid, a carboxylate of hydroxyethylethylenediaminetriacetic acid, a carboxylate of ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid, a carboxylate of diethylenetriaminepentaacetic acid, a carboxylate of dietilendiamintetracético acid, a carboxylate of diethylenetriaminepentaacetic acid, alquilosulfonato , arylsulfonate, or alkyl substituted arylsulfonate. |
