abstract | A method of treating a liquid discharge from the continuous hydroformylation of an olefinic raw material in the presence of a hydroformylation catalyst comprising a rhodium complex having at least one organophosphorus compound as a ligand, containing unreacted olefins, alkanes, aldehydes, catalyst liquor and high boiling by-products; comprising rectifying the liquid product phase with a rectification gas in a product phase rectification column, thereby separating a vapor phase containing unreacted olefins, alkanes, aldehydes from the catalyst residue and high boiling by-products. ; recycle at least part of the residue to the hydroformylation zone; cooling the vapor phase in a product condenser, thereby condensing unreacted olefins, alkanes, aldehydes at least partially outside the rectification gas; and recycle the rectification gas to the product phase rectification column; in which the product phase rectification column and the product condenser are operated within a pressure difference of 50 kPa or less and in which the product phase rectification column is operated at a pressure greater than 96, 5 kPa and less than 689 kPa. |
