titleOfInvention | Polyamide resin and method to mold it |
abstract | A polyamide resin comprising a diamine unit containing 70 mol% or more of a xylylenediamine unit and a carboxylic acid unit containing 70 mol% or more of a straight chain aliphatic carboxylic acid unit; wherein the xylylenediamine unit is composed of 55 to 95 mole% p-xylylenediamine and 45 to 5 mole% m-xylylenediamine; the long chain aliphatic dicarboxylic acid unit is composed of 50 to 100 mol% adipic acid and 0 to less than 50 mol% sebacic acid or other straight chain aliphatic dicarboxylic acids; the molar ratio of reacted diamine units to reacted carboxylic acid units (the number of moles of reacted diamine units / the number of moles of reacted dicarboxylic acid units) is less than 0.994; and the polyamine resin has a number average molecular weight of 10,000 to 25,000 and a melting point of 285 ° C or more; wherein the melting point is determined by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) by melting a sample of polyamide resin by heating from 30 ° C at a temperature equal to or greater than an expected melting point at a rate of 10 ° C / min and then it is rapidly cooled and then the sample is heated at a rate of 10 ° C / min to a temperature equal to or greater than the melting point; and wherein the number average molecular weight is calculated herein from the concentration of terminal amino groups [NH2] (μeq / g) and the concentration of terminal carboxyl groups [COOH] (μeq / g) of a polyamide resin using the following equation: Number average molecular weight> = 2,000,000 / ([COOH] + [NH2]). |
