abstract A method for controlling the self-activation of factor VII, or an analogue or derivative thereof, comprising the steps of: (a) measuring the initial concentration of factor VII / VIIa, or the analogue or derivative thereof; (b) measure the initial proportion of activated factor VII, or the analogue or derivative thereof; (c) calculate the reaction time of the activation of factor VII, or the analogue or derivative thereof, by correlation of the measured values in each of the steps (a) and (b) with a value of the required proportion of the activated factor VII, or the analogue or derivative thereof, where the reaction time, t, is calculated according to formula (I): ** Formula ** in which "akt" refers to the required proportion of cleaved factor VII , or of the analogue or derivative thereof, "akt0" refers to the initial proportion of factor VII cleaved, or of the analogue or derivative thereof, measured in step (b), "F0" refers to the initial concentration of the factor VII, or the analogue or derivative thereof, (in g / l) measured in step (a), k (T) refers to the reaction constant for the given reaction (in L / g / min) as a function of the temperature, T, and xb refers to the molar fraction, calculated according to the equation of formula (III), ** Formula ** in which pH refers to the pH chosen from the reaction; (d) perform, at a pH of 6.0 to 8.0, the factor VII activation reaction for the time calculated in step (c); and (e) end the reaction after the reaction time calculated in step (c), which comprises reducing the pH to a value below about 6.0, such as between 5.5 and 6.0.
