abstract A nasogastric or nasoenteric feeding tube comprising; an elongated body having a sufficient length such that a proximal end (130B) of the elongated body may be disposed outside a patient adjacent to a nasal or oral cavity of the patient while the elongated body extends through the nasal cavity of the patient, through the patient's esophagus and at least in the stomach, including the elongated body at least one lumen (36, 264) that has an opening through a distal end, configured the lumen (36, 264) to pass a feed solution through it, and an optical system (276, 40A, 40B, 346) disposed within the elongated body comprising a lighting structure for the illumination of the tissue adjacent to the distal end (130B) and a transmission structure of images to transmit images of the tissue adjacent to the distal end (130A).
