abstract A chemically stable antioxidant compound comprising: a lipophilic cationic fraction linked by a connection fraction to an antioxidant fraction; and an anionic complement to said cationic fraction, in which the cationic fraction is capable of directing the antioxidant fraction to mitochondria, in which the antioxidant compound is a compound of formula I: ** Formula ** or its quinol form, in which R1, R2 and R3, are the same or different and are chosen from C1 to C5 and H alkyl moieties, and in which n is an integer between 2 and 20, and in which Z is an anion that does not it shows reactivity against the antioxidant fraction, the cationic fraction or the connection fraction and is chosen from an alkyl sulfonate, an aryl sulfonate, trifluoromethanesulfonate, tetraphenylborate, tetrafluoroborate, hexafluoroantimoniate, hexafluoroarseniate and hexafluorophosphate.
