A biostatic coating composition for the prevention of biofilms on wet or damp surfaces, a biostatic coating composition comprising: a film-forming composition and a biocidal complex AB, in which A of the biocidal complex AB is a phenolic biocide and B of the biocidal complex AB it is a polyvinylpyrrolidone copolymer, in which the AB biocidal complex is not water soluble and in which the AB biocidal complex is dispersed in a water-based emulsion together with a high-boiling water-soluble polar solvent selected from N-methylpyrrolidone, glycol ethers and combinations thereof, or dispersed in a solvent-based vehicle, and in which the biostatic coating composition, when dried, produces a hydrophobic film when applied to surfaces. |
