titleOfInvention New anti-inflammatories based on olive polyphenols
abstract The object of the invention focuses on the synthesis by two alternative routes of (3,4-dihydroxyphenyl) glycol (6), a natural product present in the olive tree, and on the synthesis of (3,4-dihydroxyphenyl) diacylglycols (12) . Both (6) and (12) are useful as non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. Similarly, hydroxytyrosyl alkanoates and various hydroxytyirsol thioderivatives possess anti-inflammatory properties. Finally, hydroxytyrosyl acetate reduces the damage caused in the colon of mice in a model of acute colitis induced by sodium dextran sulfate (DSS).
