abstract | Use of a composition to form a gasket, said composition comprising: (a) a vinyl polymer bearing at least one terminal functional group having formula I or II: ** Formula ** in which: R1 and R2 are independently selected from the group consisting of H, C1-6 alkyl and C4-8 cycloalkyl; X is selected from the group consisting of C1-12 hydrocarbyl, oxygen and sulfur, wherein said C1-12 hydrocarbyl optionally comprises one or more groups selected from ether, thioether, acetal, thioacetal, ester, thioester, urethane, urea, thiourea, amine, amide, thioamide, carbamate, and carbonate; Y is selected from the group consisting of C1-17 hydrocarbyl optionally comprising one or more groups selected from ether, thioether, acetal, thioacetal, ester, thioester, urethane, urea, thiourea, amine, amide, thioamide, carbamate, and carbonate; x is 1 to 3; (b) a crosslinking agent comprising one or more of: (i) a thiol crosslinking agent when said vinyl polymer of (a) carries at least one functional group having formula I; or (ii) a vinyl crosslinking agent when said vinyl polymer of (a) carries at least one functional group having formula II; and (c) a curing system. |
