abstract | A pharmaceutical composition comprising i) rosuvastatin calcium: ii) an alkali metal carbonate or bicarbonate or mixtures thereof, and iii) optionally one or more pharmaceutically acceptable excipients characterized in that the rosuvastatin calcium and the alkali metal carbonate or bicarbonate or a mixture thereof are present in a molar ratio in the range of 1: 0.43-1.75, where the composition provides a dissolution profile of rosuvastatin calcium in 0.1N HCl in which rosuvastatin calcium is releases in the range of 15% to 25% in 5 minutes, from 40% to 50% in 10 minutes, from 60% to 70% in 15 minutes, from 70% to 80% in 20 minutes, from 80% to 90% in 30 minutes, from 85% to 95% in 45 minutes and from 90% to 100% in 60 minutes after the association of 900 ml of a dissolution medium at 37ºC ± 0.5ºC and the procedure 1 USP (basket ) and the basket speed is 100 rpm. |
