titleOfInvention Battery drain detection in an implantable device
abstract A system, comprising: a coulombometer (102) configured to measure a battery capacity; a voltage capacity device (104) configured to use a detected battery voltage to measure a battery capacity; a controller (106), coupled to the coulombometer and the voltage capacity device, the controller being configured to combine the measurements of the coulometer and the voltage capacity device; characterized in that the controller uses a weighted average to determine the battery capacity consumed; and in which the controller (106) is configured to detect a drop in the detected battery voltage below a specified threshold to identify a high current drain failure, the specified threshold being determined based on the battery capacity consumed calculated using the weighted average.
