titleOfInvention Nitrile Preparation Process
abstract Process of preparing pentenenitrile, said process comprising the steps of: (i) reacting in a reaction zone a mixture comprising 1,3-butadiene (BD) and hydrogen cyanide (HCN) in the presence of a catalyst comprising Ni of zero valence and a phosphorous ligand to produce a reaction product comprising 3-pentenenitrile (3PN), 2-methyl-3-butenonitrile (2M3BN), adiponitrile (DNA) and methylglutóronitrile (MGN); (ii) distill the effluent from the reaction zone of step (i) to remove 1,3-butadiene and to obtain a stream depleted in 1,3-butadiene; (iii) distilling the 1,3-butediene impoverished stream from step (ii) to obtain streams comprising a stream enriched in pentenenitrile and a stream enriched in catalyst; and (iv) recycle at least a portion of the catalyst-enriched stream of stage (iii) to the reaction zone of stage (i) in which the catalyst crosses the reaction zone together with the reactants and products, in wherein the 1,3-butadiene impoverished stream of step (ii) is introduced into a distillation column comprising a feed inlet, an upper extraction outlet, a lateral extraction outlet, a bottom extraction outlet and a rectification section, in which the rectification section is provided between the feed inlet and the upper extraction outlet, in which the rectification section comprises at least two separation stages, in which the stream enriched in pentenenitrile of step (iii) is removed from the upper extraction outlet, in which the catalyst-enriched stream from stage (iii) is drawn from the bottom extraction outlet, in which said section of rectification further comprises a liquid collection apparatus, in which the liquid collection apparatus is above the feed inlet, in which the liquid is collected in the liquid collection apparatus and is passed through the outlet lateral extraction to form a lateral extraction current, and wherein said lateral extraction current comprises methylglutóronitrile (MGN).
