abstract | Method implemented by computer for dynamic characterization of cells in cell cultures and computer programs to carry out the method. # The method comprises acquiring a sequence of fluorescence images of a cell culture; segment said fluorescence image sequence and identify the location, shape and size of each cell that is part of the culture; measure the fluorescence level of each identified cell to determine a concentration of a calcium ion in each identified cell; stimulate said culture at an external stimulation frequency through an external supply of electrical energy; determine the response of each identified cell to said stimulation frequency; and determine a global response of said stimulated culture by means of said external input of electrical energy and analyze the electrical propagation of said stimulus in the form of a local elevation of the concentration of the calcium ion at said stimulation frequency. |
