abstract |
A cyclodextrin sulfoalkyl ether composition comprising cyclodextrin sulfoalkyl ether (SAE-CD) in which the composition comprises agglomerated particles and has: (a) a minimum orifice diameter of gravitational flow less than about 20 mm; (b) an average dissolution time of 4.5 minutes or less, when 2.5 g of the composition is placed in water; and (c) a crush / compression resistance in the range of about 1.0 to about 20 kP when 200 mg of the composition is compressed into a tablet having a diameter of 8.7 mm by the use of a Pmax in the range of about 30 to about 275 MPa and a moisture content in the range of about 2 to about 3% by weight, or a crush / compression resistance in the range of about 0.5 to around 11 kP when 200 mg of the composition is compressed into a tablet having a diameter of 8.7 mm by using a Pmax in the range of about 15 to about 70 MPa and a moisture content in the range from about 5 to about 6% by weight. |
