A track (500) for a freight transportation system, comprising: a substrate (502); a pair of rails (504) coupled to the substrate (502); and a linear motor reaction plate coupled to the substrate and arranged vertically between the rails (504) and approximately equidistant to face rail (504), where the linear motor reaction plate (506) can be operated to act in conjunction with a system linear induction propulsion (408) for moving a transport vehicle (400) on the pair of rails (504), the linear motor reaction plate (506) including separate and staggered aluminum plates (508) arranged between plates of cast iron (510) that allow expansion and contraction, movement of the substrate (502) and maximize eddy current and a maximum flux complement of a moving magnetic field. |
