titleOfInvention | Method and apparatus for real-time dosimetry |
abstract | An apparatus for determining the dose rate or dose of radiation from an in vivo source of low-energy X-rays, comprising: a catheter adapted to be located in the urethra or rectum and having one or more radiation detectors ( 20a, 20b, 20c, 20d); electronic detection devices for receiving an output of said one or more detectors (20a, 20b, 20c, 20d); and computational means (18) for receiving an output of said electronic detection devices; characterized in that said one or more detectors (20a, 20b, 20c, 20d) are configured to work in spectroscopy mode and are ion implantation silicon detectors, PIN diode detectors, CdZnTe detectors or scintillation detectors; and the dose rate or the dose administered by said source is determined with said computational means (18) using only the parts of the output of said one or more detectors (20a, 20b, 20c, 20d), corresponding to one or more photopic of said low energy X-rays. |
